Humble Beginnings
Born and raised in the little town of Mendon, Massachussetts, Marc G was always a writer. Listening to whatever he could find, he would start collecting vinyl records at age 12 and start organizing his stories and thoughts into early songs shortly after.
Throughout his teens, Marc G would find himself becoming attached to expressing himself through songwriting, striving to perform in any way he could both through his middle and high school theater programs as well as various school concerts and local open mics he would find.
By the end of high school, he, along side good friends, had created and performed in a original concert tiled the Peace Love and Positivity concert in which they raised $1500 to donate towards the Conors Cure Foundation for Brain Cancer research.
A dream had been born, as Marc G found himself enrolling in Plymouth State University to study Music Technology with a focus in Vocal Performance
From a Dream to a Life
By the time Marc G was studying music at Plymouth State University, his music journey was well underway.
Chasing Hiphop while refining and building his writing skills, vocal performance techniques, and performance methods, he blazed a trail as a recording artist in a music department that was primarily focused in classical and theatrical settings.
He quickly became the first student to bring both his original work and hiphop pieces to student recitals, vocal lessons, and final performance exams. This would be transformative for his self confidence as a performer and belief in his art.
By late college, Marc G was performing left and right in accapeplla groups, jazz workshops, chorale concerts, basement shows, PSUs radio station, and his personal favorite, his own Vibes In The Attic shows occurring right in his own apartment on Main Street.
These shows would be imperative for his crowd work and true performance skills. He would often have friends film these events for him to edit and document these once in a lifetime youthful college days as he knew, they wouldn’t last forever… Until the dream a young Marc G harnessed had to grow up just as he did.
Taking Shape
Post Covid and College, Marc G found himself in a lost period, often not knowing which way to take his musical journey.
He tried his hand at playing several showcase style shows and performances in which he found himself in environments that didn’t suit the overall energy of what he thought Marc G should be. There was always something missing.
That was until Marc G moved himself to the New Hampshire Seacoast in which he discovered where his future should take place.
He then began hitting the open mic circuit hard, finding dozens of people and like minded musicians who where very interested in what he brought to the table. This then inspired him to start a Hiphop Night based in Dover, New Hampshire at a Kombucha Bar called Auspicious Brew.
This brings us to present day where Marc G continues to put out album after album, putting on more and more Hiphop Nights, participating and performing in his community. He hopes to build a live band to expand his sound and gigging opportunities very soon…
